Deposits: bookings must be accompanied by a deposit of £100 per person, payable by bank transfer (SEPA transfer is the recommended method of payment), Paypal or by cheque. Cheques should be made out to "Dr C J Pounds". A booking is firm when payment is cleared.

To pay by online bank transfer you need to use the European Payment Area transfer (SEPA). For the information you will need to do this please complete a booking form or email me. It is easy and quick and secure.
Refunds of deposits: only if we cancel a holiday.
Other refunds: see "Cancellation by Client" below. Cancellation of holiday prepaid in full with more than 60 days notice: refund in full less deposit. Cancellation with 30-60 days notice: 50% of balance refunded. Cancellation with 14-30 days notice: 25% refund of balance. Cancellation with less than 14 days notice: no refund.
CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS:
Alteration by client: it may not always be possible to accommodate your wishes, but we will always endeavour to do so. You may switch to another holiday, or the same itinerary on different dates, if there is space available and it does not cause the original trip to be cancelled. You will be charged £30 per head administration fee (all your accommodation will have to be re-booked).
Alteration by us: we reserve the right to alter the details of the route, or the accommodation used, for example because of inclement weather, or unsuitability of accommodation for whatever reason.
Cancellation by client: will incur loss of deposit, and after final payment date will incur loss off part or all of balance (see "Refunds" above).
Cancellation by us: we reserve the right to cancel holidays if there are insufficient bookings to make it viable, or because of events beyond our control (e.g. airline strike, war, sickness of leaders). In the case of insufficient bookings or sickness of leader you will be offered a free transfer to another holiday, or a full refund including deposit.
We offer a 5% loyalty discount to returning clients. We do not offer any other discounts.
Christopher Pounds will not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense resulting from actions or unforeseen circumstances outwith the control of Pyrenees Walking. Christopher Pounds will only be liable for loss or damage caused by the proven negligence of himself.
Surcharges will apply to clients requiring single room accommodation in hotels (see price list). Normally there will be no other surcharges. However we reserve the right to increase prices at short notice if either: (a) the sterling/euro exchange rate falls below 1.15 €/£ or if the French rate of VAT (TVA) rises above 19.75%.
It is a requirement that you have adequate insurance cover for the duration of the holiday. This should cover medical expenses, injury, death, search and rescue, repatriation, liability, personal possessions and money. We recommend you take out insurance through the British Mountaineering Council.
Any costs incurred by Christopher Pounds (such as evacuation costs, additional transport costs, or emergency medical costs) as a result of sickness or injury to a client will be charged to the individuals concerned.
You will be asked to declare that you are fit to participate when you book. You will also be asked to declare any known relevant medical conditions at the time of booking. See the Additional Information page. Clients whose fitness is clearly at variance with that required for the grade of trip may be asked to make alternative arrangements (at their own expense) in order to allow the programme to proceed as planned.
It is a key feature of our holidays that you are in the hands of a fully qualified International Mountain Leader (Accompagnateur en Montagne) for the duration of your holiday. He will know the route, the mountains, and the prevailing weather conditions, and your safety will be his paramount concern at all times. He will also try to make the trip as exciting and adventurous as the group desires, and strive to balance the two. It is the nature of the activity that there is inherent risk and you acknowledge this in making your booking. Depending on your itinerary you may be required to walk narrow ridges, loose ground, steep slopes, or use chains as handrails. Your leader will ensure that any such activities are well within the group's abilities.
VISAS AND PASSPORTS:
It is the client's responsibility to ensure they travel with a current passport valid for entry into France and Spain. UK citizens do not require visas.
Whilst minor choices of route etc. will be discussed democratically, clients are expected to recognize that the decisions of the qualified leader are final and binding on the entire group. Anyone leaving the group for any reason does so entirely at their own risk with no liability devolving on Christopher Pounds whatsoever.
In the unlikely event of a complaint, it should be raised with your leader at once. He will endeavour to deal with it promptly and to your satisfaction. If this is unsuccessful, please write to our office in France giving full details, within 28 days of the end of your holiday.
Your booking is accepted on the basis of the above conditions. Please do not ask us to change them after booking.
